Ten ways to incorporate lemons in your life
As the founder and CEO of Chantal Guillon, I need to keep my energy high, my home and workspace clean, and my food both nutritious and exciting. I use lemons to achieve each of these. Read on for the many ways I use lemons every day!
- Drink Vitamin C to improve immunity and digestion
Fifteen to twenty minutes before eating breakfast or a big meal I will drink lemon juice freshly squeezed in warm water to aid my health in several ways. Vitamin C in the lemon juice is helpful for boosting the immune system and settling the stomach after a big meal.
- Use lemon juice to rejuvenate skin
An additional benefit of drinking daily lemon juice is the Vitamin C brightens and hydrates my skin. Some people use lemon juice mixed with honey in homemade facial masks for similar benefits.
- Drink lemon juice in water or tea to relieve nausea
The fresh scent of lemon has been shown to relieve or prevent nausea when it is present in food and drink, especially added to tea. My favorite ratio is juice from a ¼ of a lemon squeezed in 8 oz of warm water.
- Add some excitement to your meals
I add juice from ½ of a lemon to a variety of dishes to emphasize flavor and add zest. It is particularly helpful for balancing the dish of a rich dish. If you don’t like the acidity, but still want the fresh taste, you can use a zester or cheese grater to add lemon peel instead of juice.
- Use on salads
On salads it can be used to keep them fresh and as a healthy dressing. Mix the lemon juice with a little olive oil and it’s an easy and delicious dressing for a salad.
- Preserve your fruits and vegetables
The citric acid keeps vegetables and fruits from turning brown and can be used on salads or directly on produce after chopping.
- Use as a substitute for chemical cleaners
The acid in lemon juice makes it an effective household cleaner, especially for cutting boards and other cookware. It can be especially helpful for cutting through tough grease.
- Use for extra shine
Lemon juice is excellent for polishing chrome and copper pots and pans and is a safe polish to use even on wood.
- Use as a hand wash
As an added bonus, after using it to clean my dishes it also cleans the food preparation smell from my hands and leaves them smelling nice and fresh.
- Eat them in delicious macaroons
Of course, my favorite use for lemons is making them into delicious macarons! Try them today by visiting our stores or placing an order online.
